What is functional medicine?
-
Holistic
Functional medicine is a type of healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of disease, rather than just treating the symptoms. It is a holistic approach that considers the whole person and their unique needs, rather than just a specific organ or system in the body.
-
Personalized
Practitioners of functional medicine use a variety of techniques, including nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes, to help individuals achieve optimal health and well-being. They may also use supplements, medications, and other treatments as needed to help the body function at its best. The goal of functional medicine is to help people achieve optimal health and well-being, rather than just managing symptoms.

FAQs
Why work with Allium Functional Medicine?
Being part of a small practice means more personalized care. You are not just another patient. We strive to get to know our patients and establish a relationship that makes you feel supported while receiving holistic, personalized care.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time we do not accept insurance but we are able to create a superbill for you to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. You can use FSA (flexible spending account)/ HSA(health spending account) money to pay for specialty testing and supplements. If you have insurance, we run blood work through your insurance carrier’s preferred lab (Quest, LabCorp, or Bioreference).
Can you be my primary care provider (PCP)?
At this time we are only able to offer telehealth services and therefore we cannot act as your PCP since we are unable to perform an in-person physical exam. We recommend you maintain a relationship with your PCP for annual physical exam, preventative screenings, and for sick visits that require in-person assessment. We are hoping to offer in-person care in the future in which case we can act as your PCP.
What if I don’t have insurance or I have Kaiser insurance
No insurance? No problem! Vibrant America offers affordable out-of-pocket blood work. We can get a quote for the recommended blood work and if it doesn’t fit your budget we work with you to prioritize what is most important and go at your own pace.
Can you prescribe testosterone?
We are currently unable to prescribe testosterone because it is a controlled substance and it is currently not possible to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth. We can communicate with your gynecologist who can perform the required physical exam and make a recommendation for prescription and continue to monitor your levels and therapeutic effects. We hope to be able to offer in-person assessments in the future.
Are labs, specialty tests, or supplements included in the cost of the membership?
Labs and any treatment plans are not included in the cost of membership, however, we can run your labs through your insurance carrier. If you have a FSA/ HSA account you can use those funds to cover costs as well. In general we are very conscientious of how costly functional medicine can be so we will always meet you where you are at.
